As farmers across the country deal with another year of low crop prices, many are singing the praises of land payments from local energy projects.  Lease agreements with wind developers can pay as much as $10,000 per turbine per year.  Local energy projects are also building rural governments’ shrinking tax base. By 2030 rural landowners are expected to receive nearly $900 million in land payments associated with clean energy.
