Kit Carson Electric Cooperative, in Taos, New Mexico has set a bold new goal for local energy projects by 2022. Under the proposed plan, the co-op would see its local solar generation leap to 55 percent, based on current customer demand, enough to serve all of its members with 100 percent solar on sunny summer days Kit Carson was able to do this after exiting their contract with Tri-state, their Generation and Transmission Co-op, in a move which sent reverberations around the co-op world.
